How a plastic barrel dumpster helped rescue a dog from a burning house

A plastic barrel dumpster helped save a dog that was trapped inside a burning home after it was found on fire.

The dog was inside a home in the 700 block of South River Road, just south of downtown Chicago, when firefighters arrived.

Firefighters used a steel pipe to pry the dog loose.

They got into the house, pulled the dog out and placed him inside the dumpster, where they were able to save him.

The dumpster was filled with garbage from the home, and the dog was put in a container with a bed, a blanket and a small toy, Fox Chicago reported.
