A $1.4 million barrel of cheap plastic is cheaper than a $2.5 million barrel, but it still costs $3,000 more to store it, according to a study by the National Consumer Law Center (NCLC).
The study, titled Plastic Barrel: How Cheap Plastic Shocks the World’s Supply Chain, is published in the November issue of the Journal of Law, Economics and Economics.
The price gap in plastic barrels is most pronounced in the world’s supply chains for construction materials.
It is estimated that more than 100 million plastic barrels are used in the construction industry, while more than 10 million are used for food packaging and 1.7 million are in the manufacturing sector, according the NCLC.
Plastic barrels are a major problem in the food supply chain, with a recent report from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) showing that plastic is used to create a wide variety of products ranging from paper products to plastic-coated glass, paper towels, plastic bottles, plastic-wrapped toys, and even in medical supplies.
“We know that plastic has been used for many decades, and it is very important that we do not let that continue to happen,” said Sarah Breslin, senior research associate with the NLC.
“When you think about how much plastic you consume, and how you use it, you really can’t think of any other product that you consume that you don’t have to be mindful of the price,” she said.
Plastic is considered a critical component of the food chain, as it is used in all sorts of food and beverage products.
The U.N. report said plastic waste is used for more than 70 percent of all the greenhouse gases in the global economy.
Plastic and plastics waste are both a major source of greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to the food production chain’s dependence on water.
In fact, plastic is one of the most polluting materials used in human history, and its waste is a key contributor to climate change, according an Environmental Working Group (EWG) report.
According to the EWS report, the plastic that is produced and consumed worldwide is primarily made up of plastic pellets and fibers, as well as plastics derived from plastics, which are not recyclable.
The EWS study also found that the average plastic barrel weighs more than 1,000 pounds, which is more than double the weight of the typical American garbage bag.
According a 2013 report by the Environmental Protection Agency, plastic waste generated in the United States was estimated to generate $20 billion a year in greenhouse gas pollution and $40 billion a day in carbon dioxide emissions.
The NCLU is calling for a nationwide ban on plastic barrels, and to make plastic containers less hazardous, according a statement.
“It’s time to ban the use of plastic barrels in the U.S.,” said Julie Czapat, director of the Center for the Study of Waste and the Environment at the NLLC.
“The barrel is the largest component of plastic waste in the country.
There is a tremendous amount of waste that’s in these plastic containers, and we don’t need them, and they’re not recycler friendly, so we need to get rid of them,” she added.
“So I think it’s a really important issue to have this conversation, because there are so many of these plastic barrel issues that are happening all over the country,” said Bresler.
“What we need is a nationwide movement that really says, ‘We are not going to allow the barrel to continue to be made.’
We’re not going let the barrel be made in the American food supply, we’re not gonna let the plastic barrel continue to go on being made,” she continued.
The plastic barrel is not only a major issue in the plastic supply chain but also in the waste treatment industry, which has been identified as a major contributor to the environmental and social impacts of plastic.
In 2014, the Environmental Integrity Project found that nearly half of the plastic waste produced worldwide is recycled.
But the problem isn’t confined to the United State.
The Environmental Protection and Toxic Substances Control Administration (EPA) found that more plastic barrels were used in packaging than all other categories combined, and plastic bottles accounted for more plastic waste than all of the other materials.
The EPA has made plastic-reuse and recycling a priority for the agency, and in 2015, the agency approved the creation of the Plastic Recycling Recycler Program, which would allow companies to convert plastic into a reusable material.
In an email to Newsweek, the NPLC said the report demonstrates that the industry needs to work together to address the issue.
“I think it is really important that the government and industry work together and work on solutions that will have a significant positive impact on the environment, and I hope we see that happening as soon as possible,” Bresl said.
“This is not about one company or one individual, this is about the entire industry
